The Canton of Vaud is the most important producer of Chasselas in Switzerland and has built its reputation upon this vine.

There are some 28 distinct varieties the diversity of which corresponds to the particularities of the different soils of the vineyards in the Vaud.

The Chasselas represents 74% of the canton’s production. The balance is made up mainly by the Gamay (12.5%) and the Pinot Noir (10.5%). There are also some white and red specialities (3%).
