A vine producing a red-coloured grape juice; it was recently introduced into Switzerland by the Federal Plant Production Research Station in Changins. In the climatic conditions of the Ticino, the Ancellotta rarely seems to be able to reach a sufficient degree of maturity. However, the favourable locations in the Valais and the protection by the walls in some vineyards in the canton of Vaud ensure that this vine matures well. If it is allowed to become very mature, it gives a very colourful and neutral tannic wine that can be used in small quantities in blending.
