Varieties of white vines
  Marsanne blanche

This vine seems to have been introduced in Switzerland towards the middle of the XIXe century, coming from the Ermitage vineyards (Côtes-du-Rhône). This explains the name "Ermitage" given to this vine in the Valais. In our climate it is a very late variety and must therefore be reserved for the best locations in the vineyard.
