Varieties of white vines

This vine, as the Charmont, has been selected from among many descendants of a crossing of Chasselas with Chardonnay. By virtue of the high sugar content and the relatively high acidity of its musts, as well as the fine bouquet of its wines, it is closer to the Chardonnay than is the Charmont. Its relatively early maturing allows the production of a fine full-bodied wine even when planted in modest vineyard locations.
